How do I know what type of printing I need?

As a general rule, digital printing is better and more cost-effective for short print runs. Litho printing, on the other hand, is better when you have a large print run. Here’s a brief guide:

Digital Printing	Lithographic Printing
Ink: Reproduces digital images onto the surface of the paper using dry ink toners.	Ink: Uses vegetable based inks to transfer the image from printing plates onto the paper.
Set Up: Printing plates not required, so it’s quicker and cheaper to set up and turnaround.	Set Up: Requires the plates to be set up, so not cost effective for small print runs.
Waste: Produces less paper and chemical waste than litho printing, making it more eco-friendly.	Quality: Produces better quality, smoother prints, especially for solid blocks of colour.
Bespoke: Can add personalised information into the design, to make each one different.	Materials: Wider range of papers and other materials available than for digital.
Best for: Small print runs (generally under 2,000 depending on the project) such as business cards, flyers and postcards.	Best for: Longer print runs and special effects like spot colours or metallic inks. Great for annual reports and brochures.

Large Format Printing

Our large format printing service is brilliant for posters, technical drawings, art and photography prints.

Using a large format inkjet printer, we can print anything up to A0 size in a relatively short space of time. This makes it ideal for creating posters for shops, gyms, restaurants, events and more. It’s also great for architectural and technical drawings that need to be printed on larger paper.

Inkjet also produces a better quality print than digital, so it’s perfect for reproducing artwork and photography.
