5 Ways to make your business more environmentally friendly
Promoting a ‘green’ image inspires change in us all and leads the way for the future. As we find more and more ways to reduce our environmental impact, it becomes easier for all of us to do our bit. Let’s look at five easy ways to make our business’ more environmentally friendly.
#1 Switch to Recycled paper
If you have to print, make sure you’re using eco-friendly paper! The production of recycled paper uses 45% less energy and produces half the waste than traditional paper making processes do. Something we’ve also mentioned in previous blogs is the mind boggling amount of water that’s saved in recycling paper as well.
It’s also important to make sure your business is recycling its paper too. If every person in the UK recycled just 10% more paper it would save approximately 5 million trees each year, so lets make a difference and show everyone how easy it is.
#2 Switch to LED lighting
These light bulbs last much longer and use significantly less energy than standard bulbs. Using LED bulbs can also save you up to 90% on your energy bill! So although they may cost more upfront, they more than make up for it in the long run (they last longer as well).
Switching to LED bulbs is very easy, with a large range of LED bulbs now available almost any incandescent bulb can be replaced by one.
#3 Eco-friendly Cleaning Products
Use cleaning products that are kind to the environment. Switching to natural, biodegradable cleaning products minimises the amount of harmful toxins and chemicals that end up in our environment.
These cleaning products are also safer and better for our own health, as these toxins are not absorbed into our skin or breathed in whilst cleaning. There are also less risks when handling the chemicals as they are made using much gentler ingredients.
Safer for the environment and for your staff.
#4 Use green energy
Power your office/business space with green energy. There are now many green energy companies with renewable options available like solar power, wind power etc. These options are also price competitive with fossil fuels, so there is no reason not to make the switch!
#5 Use public transport or ride to work
Encourage employees to use public transport or ride to work rather than drive. Not only do these options save you money they reduce the carbon footprint of your business. Making these switches also really shows your commitment towards helping the environment.
Is it easy being green?
These five steps can be simple to implement and make a huge impression on customers and staff alike. They may seem like small steps at first but these changes can go a long way in fighting for our planet. It’s our duty as business owners to assume responsibility and hold ourselves accountable when it comes to our global footprints. It is us that can make a difference and we can promote positivity towards a sustainable future.
